Overview

This extended Kutch itinerary adds a coastal chapter to the desert story. You get the full Bhuj heritage experience, the otherworldly White Rann, and then something completely different — Mandvi, a sleepy port town where royal palaces overlook the Arabian Sea and wooden dhows are still built by hand.

The first two days belong to Bhuj. Aina Mahal's mirrored walls and Prag Mahal's Gothic facade sit barely minutes apart, spanning centuries of Kutchi royal ambition. Beyond the city, Bhujodi village is where the real treasure lies — artisan families practising Ajrakh block printing, Rogan art (so rare that fewer than a dozen families worldwide still do it), and Bandhani tie-dye. You don't just watch; you sit down, pick up the tools, and try it yourself.

Day three takes you to the Great Rann of Kutch. The white salt desert stretches across 7,500 square kilometres — one of the largest salt flats on Earth. During Rann Utsav season (November to February), your tent resort puts you right at the desert's edge. The sunset here is unlike anything else in India, and after dark, the stargazing is world-class. Zero light pollution, zero noise.

From the stark white desert, day four pivots to the coast. Mandvi Beach is the kind of place that barely features on tourist itineraries — which is exactly why it's worth visiting. Vijay Vilas Palace (where parts of Lagaan were filmed) sits grandly on the shoreline, and the 400-year-old shipbuilding yard still constructs wooden sailing dhows using techniques passed down through generations. The beach itself is wide, uncrowded, and perfect for an evening walk.

Throughout the trip, your private AC car and personal guide handle logistics. The itinerary is yours to adjust — spend longer at a craft workshop, skip a monument, add a beach camel ride. It's your pace, always.
